30 Anni Di Vogue

1964-1994. 30 ANNI DI VOGUE. SUPERMODELS, SUPER BOOK AND SIX MORE IN THIS SUPERSTOCKED SUMMER EMAIL.

Published in 1994, this is the brilliant 30 Anni Di Vogue - a visual history of Italian Vogue edited by Franca Sozzani. It is, of course, the counterpart to Stile In Progress: 30 Years of L'Uomo Vogue (featured on our mail a fortnight ago). See how good 30 Anni is here. You gotta get the his and hers set!

Call us old fashioned but we were particularly drawn to this classic Steven Meisel photograph of Veruschka in an oversized men's suit (Krizia Uomo!) from October 1990. Middle of the road as in New York Street, but certainly not as in mainstream.

Though pertaining to be a thirty year review this book is heavily influenced by the supermodels who dominated 1990's fashion. Herb Ritt's posterized portrait of Claudia Schiffer from the January 1990 issue is one of many iconic images of Christy, Linda, Cindy, Naomi... like grunge never happened.

And this we love. Meisel again. Lauren Hutton in Giorgio Armani silk gown from 1993. We actually preferred Meisel's photograph of Hutton laid up in bed with her foot in plaster - but it's a landscape image and won't fit this page so you will have to see it here.
