coming at you with 3-D specs on. Real detachable glasses that render the cover even more visually volatile! On the arm, the acronym explained: Better And More! And we have more - no's 1-4! How rare?!
Wow! Walter Van Beirendonck's King Kong Kooks collection of 1989 was out of this wall! As designer or stylist WVB was all over BAM. Only the art director Anne Kurris could compete with him for sheer visual firepower.
Two of our favourite stories now. First Gangs
styled by WVB from BAM no.1. These are fantasy gangs, which include Dirk Van Saene's Silk Dolls and Dirk Bikkemberg's Darlings of Darkness (as shown above)! No wonder BAM
is so revered and so hard to find. It was completely brilliant.
In 1981/82 Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs, Marina Yee AND Walter Van Beirendonck all graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. By 1989, Belgian fashion had gone ballistic (see pic above!). It was a scene that needed a magazine.

What no colour! In fact not even white - the model is wearing a transparent plastic overdress. It is the Martin Margiela spread from a story called Auditions
