That's a book. A really super superbook. The five year ache is over. Could not really love this more. The Rock Furniture was the title of a 2002 exhibition of designs produced by Gufram in the seventies. Sandwiched between the rubber bricks is a 96 page book.

The Rock Furniture was designed by Franco Mello. In 1972 he co-designed the cactus coat stand with Guido Drocco. He doubtless did do much in between but for us these two achievements are legend enough.

The book is more than just a product catalogue. It is a history, in Italian and English, of Italian and, in the case of Archigram above, English experimental design.

The rock furniture was originally, literally, that. Guido Drocco designed a very large foam rubber stone on which to sit. As a company, Gufram are easy to understand and critically appreciate: their entire output f rom 1968 to 1976 is basically better than anything else produced in the rest of the whole world. This book is too. A piece of history. Not the Berlin wall. Better! A PIECE OF AN ITALIAN POSTMODERN HISTORY WALL!

One more look. We will sell this and not see it again for [insert your best guess here]. And one final note to add to the archive of perfectly realised perfect things: Italics in capitals are even better on an upward incline. Missing it already! Try and buy on the link below.
